Frequently Asked Questions:

When does the dance season start and end? The Dance Project starts the year in September, after Labor Day. We end the year with our recital in early-mid June.

How can I ensure that my child is learning proper technique? The Dance Project faculty is the most qualified and experienced faculty in the area. Our collective credits include BFAs in dance & musical theatre, teaching certifications in ballet, jazz, tap, & modern, professional performance experience throughout the nation and overseas on cruise ships, international tours, regional theatres, professional dance companies, NFL, Smithsonian Museums, theme parks, & television. When it comes to technical dance knowledge, as well as insight to the life of a professional dancer, The Dance Project faculty has your back!

Are recitals held locally? Yes, our recitals are in June at the Harbor Center in Slidell. We perform the same show two separate days.

Do students perform in both recital performances? Yes, we produce the same exact show for both recital performances including the same dancers each night.

Are recital costumes and music age appropriate? Absolutely! We choose very modest and age appropriate costumes (please see Costume Picture Gallery for examples). We only choose conservative costumes and require tights to be worn with all leotards. Our music choices are extremely conservative in lyrics and in subject matter and always age appropriate.

How long are your recitals? Two and a half hours- TOPS! (You’re welcome, Dads!)

Do you hold ad contests and participate in Cover Girl programs? No, we do not have any contests of that nature and do not have Cover Girls at all for our recital yearbooks.

Are classes taught by qualified educators? 100%! All of our teachers either hold degrees in performance/dance/musical theatre, hold dance teaching certifications, have professional experience, or all of the above! Our faculty’s unparalleled education along with each teacher’s passion for dance and love for each student is what makes The Dance Project a studio like no other.

How do I make monthly tuition payments? Tuition is due on the first of every month. We draft payments through our management system. Families are able to save a bank account or card (with 3.5% convenience fee) in our system for hassle-free payments.

How young do you take students? Our minimum age requirement for enrollment is 2-years-old by October 1st.

Do you have a specific dress code? Yes, our dress code policies are outlined on this website under the Dress Code tab for each age level and dance genre.

Do you offer a marching team opportunity? The Dance Project does not march in parades. However, we are partnering with local studio, Studio G, to provide a marching opportunity for any dancers who is interested.
