Tara Brewer (Jazz, Tap, Company)

Tara, owner/director, has been teaching for more than 20 years throughout dance studios in the state of Louisiana, and also held a full-time teaching position at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) in the musical theatre and dance departments. A Slidell native, Tara studied dance at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and the University of Southern Mississippi, where she was a member of the Southern Misses dance team and pledged to Kappa Delta Sorority. She is also an alumni of the prestigious School at Jacob’s Pillow in Massachusetts where she studied with broadway legends, Chet Walker, Bill Hastings, and Dana Moore.

Tara holds multiple teaching certifications through American Ballet Theatre, Dance Masters of America in jazz, tap, modern and ballet, Progressing Ballet Technique curriculum by Marie Walton-Mahon, Module 1 of International Dance Teaching Standards, Acrobatic Arts Preschool Module and is also a certified health and life coach through Health Coach Institute.

Tara’s professional performance credits include The National World War II Museum as a Victory Belle and resident choreographer of The Stage Door Canteen, & original cast of “Let Freedom Swing,” The Museum’s inaugural show. Tara was also original cast and dance captain of “Jazz Jazz Jazz” and "Dancing in the Streets," the signature shows at Jazzland Theme Park. Other credits include the New Orleans Saintsations and featured singer in season one of HBO's TREME, as well as numerous productions with Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, Tulane Summer Lyric, The NOLA Project, NOCCA Stage Company, Rivertown Repertory Theatre, Jefferson Performing Arts Society, Carl Mack Presents, & Frenchman Street Productions. Currently, Tara is the resident choreographer for the William Credo Agency and is a band member of L’Eighties Night and the band leader of The Hello Dollys.

Tara is passionate about teaching dance technique and inspiring young people to be responsible, self-sufficient, brave and bold in their art in order to build confidence and strong character.
